Hallberg-Rassy Rally 2014

Postby tomblix » Wed May 14, 2014 10:44 am

Hi all

On 13.-14. June, the annual Hallberg-Rassy Rally will take place at the yard on Orust.
Check out this link: http://www.hallberg-rassy.com/news/even ... juni-2014/

I plan to participate, and I`ve got room for a couple of crew, if anybody is interested. I guess there are a lot of you guys who would need to sail for days or weeks to get to Orust! In our part of the world, its only a (long) day or two away, so it`s more easy.

If you`re interested, it`s possible to fly to Gothenburg - about one hour from Orust with a bus, or fly to Sandefjord and sail with me down there and up. Both airports have good international flights.

I`ll be signing on in about a week or so. Send me a mail on tomchrblix@gmail.com if you`re interested :)
Best regards from Tom

Tom, thanks for the link and a very interesting offer, that's very kind of you! Unfortunately, I have some work during that weekend so I cannot participate in the Rally. But it would definitely be very interesting to participate and it is actually something I have dreamed of doing some year. Unfortunately, it is held quite early in June so one would have to leave even as early as in May from the periphery. The last (and only) time that I have visited Ellös, it took me almost three weeks to get there via Copenhagen.

Thanks for the invite Tom, wish I had more time so have to skip also. Anyway very nice initiative!! It would be nice though if we could manage to meet up some day and have a HR 29 gathering at a central place convenient to everyone who's interested to join.... maybe something to think about... :) Good luck with the rally!

I understand that it isn`t easy to find time to everything one wants to do. A HR29 gathering would be nice!

Hi all

Hallberg-Rassy rally is over. Lina participated with myself and Panos from Greece/Switzerland. (We met via the add I put on the forum. Very successful - I have a new friend now!) Pictures can be seen on the HR webpage.
We won the winch handle that we wanted + a lot more! Finished second to last - after an unfortunate genakker hoist followed by a dip in the sea…… lost a lot there. The HR 64 with the boss himself at the helm beat us twice. First in the regular regatta, and then he came out again - past us outbound and raced past us again inbound. It was a pleasure because we got to see more of this beautiful ship!

My recommendations for next year! :D
Best regards from Tom

Hi Tom, first of all, I am very happy to hear that you find crew for the regatta through this forum. Also congratulations on winning the "award for most instruments in companionway"!! :)

Very nice photos of sailing s/y Lina on HR:s website:

Hi
Sailing weather as much as we could take! Sunshine from 4 in the morning until 10 at night - every day. Winds more than 7-8 metres pr sec every day, with peaks up to 14. Waves up to around 3-4 metres. As you see….. could hardly have been better.

It was a wonderful experience! First and foremost meeting someone from the internet was a first for me, but turned out awesome. As Tom said, I too have a new friend now! Secondly I was amazed by the scenery. I had never been to Scandinavia although I had always wanted to visit. Doing so from a boat, especially a HR29, was the cherry on top of the cake! Being at the yard where Lina was built so many years ago, surrounded by beautiful yachts and in the company of similar minded laid back owners was something to experience. I strongly recommend the experience to all! Thanks to Tom and special thanks to the forum for providing a platform where such get-togethers can happen!
Panos.
PS. How about an annual HR29 meetup? ;)

Hi all (and Panos in particular!)

I`m hereby announcing my desertion from this exclusive forum. Lina is sold, and we`ve bought a HR36 MK II. Our new bot is called Nordavind (Northern wind) and is a well kept lady born in 1997. She`s an absolute beauty, except from the fact that she`s at the moment at the hospital after a rather unpleasant encounter with Mother Earth - resulting in quite a lot of damage to her lead "bum". Bad seamanship on my behalf. Can`t blame anyone!

Well - thanks for at lot of tips and good discussions, and welcome to contact me on tomchrblix@gmail.com if there are any Q`s at all about Norway or any other things I might be able to assist with!

All the best from Tom

Hi Tom, congratulations on your new boat, 36 is a real beauty! Sorry to hear about the grounding, but I am sure that she will be able to handle even that and your boat will be fine after the repair.

Thanks for interesting discussions and for your contribution to the forum.

Fair winds!
