Please review my post on "Single handed sailing with a HR29" which describes the "plate" and what lines I feed to the cockpit.
To trim the luff I use the spinnaker pole lift line which is fed through a set of two blocks that are detachable from the plate. (When the spinnaker pole is in use i have no need to trim the luff).
The uppermost block is attached to a rope that is fed through the luff trim cringle and attached on the reef hook on the opposite side of the sail.

Thanks Dan for sharing this valuable idea! Cunningham is among the things that I would like to have, but haven't yet found enough time to figure out, how to install it. This will help a lot especially as I have a redundant spinnaker pole lift in the mast.

p.s. I moved this topic here in the General HR 29 discussion, where it is perhaps more easily found.
