looking for a HR 29 Sc

Postby Muru » Tue Nov 25, 2014 8:28 am

Hello,
I'm looking for a well-preserved Hallberg Rassy 29 Scandinavia which was built in 1988 or later. I hope that she has installed a Volvo engine 2002 or better 2020 if possible with dual-circuit cooling. Also, the teakdeck should preferably be in good condition.

Hi Martin,
I'll keep my eyes open if I come across a good HR29 on sale.

Just a few ideas to consider. To my knowledge the 'Scandinavia' series has to do with the certain extra equipment (such as a heater etc.) that were fitted to the boat as a standard in the yard. However, these kind of equipment can be retrofitted as can be sees from various topics on this forum for example. On the other hand, an original heater can be in the end of its lifecycle, so I would put more weight on the stuff that has been renewed during the recent years.

I don't think that the year model matters that much in the boats of this age (20 years+). Much more important thing is how the boat has been maintained and upgraded during her lifetime. Many older boats have new engines and refurbished teak decks, while newer boats might have those still in original condition. So it is challenging but also exciting process to check out boats and find the best one for you. Market situation is definitely good for the buyer!

Thanks for the references.
You're right, as far as the condition of the engine and teak decks. Also, I have meanwhile heard that the original heating often cannot be repaired without problems, since there are hardly any spare parts.
That's why I would like to add my search:
- It need not necessarily be the equipment "Scandinavia".
- The Year of construction should - if possible - be 1985, or later, as from this year, the cover of the lockers were built in GRP with a better water flow and the position of the genoa winches were optimized.

But these two points I would not understood as exclusion criterias for well-preserved elder boats.
