Postby Tentation » Mon Mar 07, 2016 11:16 am

Hi fellow sailors,
I am looking for the polar speed diagram of the HR29.
Is it available with somebody on this forum ?
Thank you
Robert

Hi, Tentation,

it´s not a polar plot, but some interesting data collection related to HR29.

Thank you very much Ralf.
It give some interesting figures to compare HR 29 with other boats.
My quest for polar speed is aimed at making the best route, using a software, with regards to the meteo conditions , it is then essential to have these values at different wind angle.
The owner's manual of new boats, most of the time, displays this diagram , unfortunately HR29 is not a new boat. Nevertheless a beautiful, enjoyable and very seaworthy boat :)

Hi Tentation,
I know what you mean,
I only found this small polar
;), but it´s too small to see . I think Antti maybe has a bigger version,
Greetings Ralph

Hi Ralph,
that's great , just what I was looking for but as you say a little bit too small to be truly useable.
Hope Annti has a full screen of it available.
Thanks anyway
Robert

Hi,

Well spotted Ralph, indeed that old Yachting World test article included a polar plot! Thanks!

I only have a pdf copy of the article, but here is the page copied in full resolution. Hope that the polar is readable.

Robert, which software are you using for route planning?

BR
Antti

Thank you so much Antti for your initiative.
I am not using a routing software a the moment but in the process of gathering all necessary data to be able to use qtVLM, the free weather routing software.
I hope to be able to use it for planning the next summer cruise ;)

These data came out of the pro version of Stentec's Wingpshttp://www.stentec.com/en/wingps/wingps-5-voyager A beautifull but expensive long distance/regatta navigation tool.

If you like to compare data with other hallbergs (or other brands) you can try this databasehttp://jieter.github.io/orc-data/site/index.html? for free.
