Re: Rudder shaft stuffing box
Hi John,
sorry for the late reply.
I hope you already succeeded but, in case not, here my experience.
I lifted the clamp up to free the woodruff key: in my case there was not enough space downward to free up the key.
When I did it, moving the clamp up has been the toughest work. Though, the hardest have been the first few millimeters: after it came up easily.
But, before lifting it up, I cleaned and polished the woodruff key (the part reachable above the clamp) and the shaft, with a 1200 sandpaper.
Hope this helps,
Roberto

Re: Rudder shaft stuffing box
Hi
Thank you for reply with helpfull information. I have managed to dismantle all necessary parts successfully and shall now change the old 6 mm seal and put things together again. Things were pretty stuck and called for a heat gun, tools and a lot of patience together with the skills of an acrobat.
Hopefully this will stop the leak from the rudder shaft.
Regards,
John
