Hi all.
Any good tips of how to mount windlass on deck. The 30meter chain in the "gas box"?

Hi and welcome on the forum!

Dolphin Dance has a Lofrans manual windlass mounted on the deck. There is a 'hole' on the deck just behind the bow locker, which feeds the chain from the windlass into the gas box / bow locker. The system works very well and the locker is quite deep, so our 40 meters long chain fits quite well there and we can still fit two fenders and a couple of ropes into the locker as well. If your are planning to fit an electrical windlass, I think that there at least some members here on the forum, who has an electrical windlass onboard. Maybe they can give you tips about installation.

Best wishes,
Antti

Hi H:son,

I did the chainhole by myself it´s a 60 mm Aluminium tube.

Thanks Ralph. Nice drawing. Makes it quite clear. You never get problems with the anchor chain piling up and jamming the tube ?

Hi Werner,
at the moment I didn´t have problems but I only anchored twice last year.
I was also thinking about the fact of piling and disturbing the flow of the chain.
I'f it does, I probably go this way. see Foto

regards Ralph
