Sticky: New member? Please write an introduction!

Postby Antti_DD » Thu Dec 19, 2013 8:47 pm

It is nice to see that quite many HR 29 sailors have already found and registered on the forum. However, there are still some 563 boats missing from the listing :)

Unfortunately, also spammers have found this forum and lately there have been a lot of junk messages flooding the forum. Therefore, I have been forced to tighten the posting rules and thus only registered members can comment and make posts on the forum. Also, there are some changes in spambot countermeasures when registering. However, everyone who has interest in these boats can still comment and participate simply by registering which should not take longer than a minute or so. If having any questions or problems with the registration, please feel free to contact me at sydolphindance@gmail.com

Because there has lately been many fake members (i.e. spam robots) registering on the forum, new members are requested to write an introduction by posting a new topic on the "Welcome to the HR 29 forum". Otherwise, it may be difficult to distinguish real members from fake ones and your account may be accidentally deleted. Also, it would be nice to see a photo of your boat, so please feel free to add images to your post. If you need advice on attaching photos, please refer to this message http://hr29-forum.url.ph/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2&p=2#p2. Alternatively, you can always write me an e-mail if having any questions.

Hola Manel!

And welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, my Spanish is also a bit rusty so could I ask you to write in English. Sorry. Most of us don't have English as a mother tongue so there is no need to worry about the correct language, grammar etc. The most important thing is, that the message is understood.

I put your text in Google translate, and understood pretty much everything that you wrote, so it seems to be working pretty well between Spanish and English. Just an idea...try translating your written posts from Spanish to English with Google translate...this way you can write in English and we understand each other. And maybe forum member Gonzalo could help with the sailing terminology, which the google translate won't probably know too well.

Saludos

Hi everyone! My name is Panos and since I don't own an HR29 yet, I'm posting my greetings here and not as a new post in the Welcome topic. I've been a long time sailor either with my old boat an X-79, or with other chartered boats. I have participated in many regattas, mostly in Greece which is where I used to live. In Switzerland now for a bit more than a year. I have finally decided that my next boat will be an HR29 rather than the Pogo 8.5 and thats the reason I joined the forum!
Happy sailing!

Hi Panos and welcome! I am sure that forum members are happy to answer your questions if you want to ask something about this boat, her qualities, sailing characteristics etc.

Fair winds!

Good evening,

Last few years I have rented in Kerteminde (DK) several Hallberg Rassy's. Just to try out what fitted us most. First year we took a 29-er for 2 weeks, second year we rented a 31 mk1 (one spreader version) for 2 weeks and the third time we took a tiller version of the Hr 34 for 5 weeks.

About these ships;
The Hr 31 is certainly not my boat. I'm not going to bash it, it's just not what I'm looking for.

The Hr 34 is near perfect for family use (I've got 3 kids). Easy to sail, not to big and pretty fast. There are 2 draw backs; It's to big for solo sailing for me. And let me be honest; to own such a yacht is also not for free.

The 29-er is the most prettiest girl from Ellös. She fitted me like a hand glove from the first time we met. She easy to handle, good looking, suitable for solo sailing and well build. (I've sailed a lot of yachts, HR is definitely the top in GRP yachts) Draw back is that it's now to little for 5 persons. (Kids grow incredible fast you now) The other drawback is her 'light breeze performance'. But on this site as well as http://robiflinstone-hallberg-rassy.blogspot.nl/ there are some nice solutions for that. Now I'm trying to find a 29-er without a teak deck.

So Antti, I'm not a Bot but a real person. Won't post but just read as long as I don't own a 29-er.

Sincerely,
Ger

Hi Ger,

Welcome onboard! You have had a chance to sail a wide selection of HR yachts. Boat chartering seems to be a brilliant way to find the ideal boat for your needs! Just curious, what was the problem with the 31? Although I have never sailed one, it has been one of my dream boats for years. Well, at the moment I feel that if I would some day change to a bigger HR, it would probably be 34-footer due to the some better design features in my opinion. For example I think that the engine and the fuel tank in the 31 are too small for a cruising boat.
